IIT - "Beta wo ITI hota hai IIT nahi"

I don't know how many fellow IITians have faced this, but being from village and a community where being a IITian is as rarity as being a atheist , it was very common with me.
When I got selected for IIT as any other I would love to let everyone know by any possible means and who wouldn't, but by the kind of reaction I got from people I figured it would be better to just  avoid that.

Here are some of reactions I got from different people:
1. It was during first semester I visited my village and met an "educated" and "know it all" (* in village respect) kind of relative, when I told him that I am in "IIT", he took 15 min. to make me understand that its called "ITI" and I have read it wrong. He was so confident that at one point I have to admit and leave to take a "Disprin" and a good 5 hr sleep to recover from that traumatizing talk.

2.I was travelling from college to my hometown , I met a fellow passenger from my caste and one of speciality ( more of problem) is that they love to give their stupid thought on everything . So this guy asked me what I do and I tell him that I am doing BTech from IITG. He doesn't have any idea about it but he still goes on " Dekho IIT-YIT chalta rahta hai aap to Thanedar ki tayyari karo usse achcha dahej milega". Fortunately there was not a door opened that time cause either I would throw him or jump out myself.

3. So I was at a marriage function at village and my neighbour uncle suddenly call me and while looking at all gentleman's around him with proudness told that I was rank one in IIT, and I was fucking statued . At that time I prayed to god please nobody should know anything about IIT, one guy in coat looked curious and I thought I am going to be busted but when he asked how many percentage of marks I got I received as he thought it was like some other Board exam.
